KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sophomore
Amanda Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) became the first Warrior since 2004 to be named as a NAIA All-American Saturday when the Corban's women's soccer team member was awarded honorable mention recognition.
Mendenhall, who is coming off her second straight All-Cascade Collegiate Conference 1st team award, became the eighth player in program history to earn NAIA All-American honorable mention recognition since the 1999 season as announced by the Kansas City-based national office. The second-year midfielder joins former Warriors Wendy Trent (1999), Noelle Samples (1999), Jen Troja (1999), Chrissy Cacioppo (2000), KeriAnn Lawson (2000, 2001, & 2002), Sarah Riojas (2002), and Julie Baird (2002 & 2004).
In helping lead Corban to a win-loss record of 9-7-3 this season and a Cascade Collegiate Conference mark of 6-2-1, Mendenhall appeared in all 19 games that included a team-leading 18 starts from her midfield position. The second-year Warrior tallied a team-high tying six goals to go along with a team-best four assists en route to registering a team-leading 16 points. Mendenhall also tied with two other players with a pair of game-winning goals that included victory-clinching scores against Rocky Mountain on September 12th and conference rival Northwest Christian on October 3rd.
During the nine-game conference schedule, Mendenhall tied for the team lead in both goals with four and assists with three en route to totaling a team-high 11 points.
In two seasons as a Warrior, Mendenhall has appeared in 39 games, including 38 starts, and scored 11 goals, handed out nine assists, and registered a combined 31 points. The two-time all-conference honoree has recorded 59 total shots with 31 being on-goal, while helping lead Corban to back-to-back conference tournament semifinal appearances.
Mendenhall is 1 of 81 players named as NAIA All-American honorable mention joining fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes Georgie Christensen of Concordia, Jacki Hendrickson of Concordia, Erika Mouritsen of The College of Idaho, Jenna Peterson of Concordia, and Kaitlyn Tebbs of Concordia.
