16 Warriors Earn Academic All-CCC Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – As announced earlier today by the Portland-based conference office, 16 Corban spring student-athletes in the sports of baseball, softball, golf, and track & field were honored as Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference for their performance on the field of play and in the classroom.

To earn recognition as a CCC scholar-athlete, a student must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 and sophomore standing.

The Warrior baseball team led the contingent of Corban student-athletes with six honorees, while track & field landed five, softball had four, and men's & women's golf had one student-athlete on the list.

Of the 166 student-athlete across the conference, Corban placed the following students on the list...

* Ali Ghavami (Keizer, Ore.) – Women's Track & Field – Pre-Med
* Karissa Griggs (Athena, Ore.) – Women's Track & Field – Elementary Education
* Jason Hardrath (Baker, Ore.) – Men's Track & Field – Education
* Jessie Jones (Gladstone, Ore.) – Softball – History
* Kyle Lamson (Medford, Ore.) – Baseball – Health Sciences/Spanish
* Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) – Women's Track & Field – Education
* Mitch Riddle (Pullman, Wash.) – Baseball – Exercise Science
* Rachel Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) – Softball – Education

Warrior student-athletes made up almost 10% of the honorees with The College of Idaho leading the way with 41 players on the list.

Throughout the 2008-09 academic year, Corban landed 47 student-athletes on the Academic All-CCC Teams.
