Eight Squads Earn NAIA Scholar Team Award
CCC All-Academic Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Corban College had more than half of its athletic programs honored as NAIA Scholar Teams when the list was released earlier Friday by the national office.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average must include all varsity athletes certified as eligible.

Leading the Warrior contingent was the women's volleyball team with a combined Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.42. Following closely behind the volleyball squad was the track & field teams with a combined GPA of 3.34, as the men's program turned in a 3.35 GPA versus the women's 3.32.

Other Corban teams that earned the honor were men's basketball (3.19), baseball (3.12), men's golf (3.10), women's basketball (3.09), and women's soccer (3.01).

"Today's announcement recognizes Corban students as individuals that succeed at many levels,” commented Dave Johnson, Corban's Director of Athletics. "Having over 50% of our teams represented is a great honor, as academics are a key part of what happens here at the college. Congratulations student-athletes for this high honor and thank you for your hard work!"

Among the 837 teams listed, the Cascade Collegiate Conference had eight schools represented with Corban placing in a tie for fourth with Oregon Tech (8) behind The College of Idaho (19), Concordia (9), and Northwest Christian (9).
