Irby Resigns as Head Coach After Four Seasons
Fourth-year head coach Dave Irby
Fourth-year head coach Dave Irby is stepping down after leading Corban to a pair of playoff apperances, as well as two conference team awards for character.
SALEM, Ore. – Fourth-year head coach Dave Irby has resigned from his position as head men's soccer coach after four seasons at the helm, as announced Monday by Dave Johnson, Corban's Director of Athletics.

"Dave has been a great benefit to the men's soccer program at Corban," said Johnson. "He is a true ambassador for Christ and has a strong desire for student success. We wish him well and pray for God's direction with Corban men's soccer."

Irby, who came to Corban in the fall of 2006, compiled a 26-39-8 record as head coach of the Warriors. During his Corban tenure, Irby’s teams were honored with back-to-back NAIA Champion of Character Team Awards in 2008 & 2009. The award is based on the NAIA’s five character core values of respect, integrity, sportsmanship, servant leadership and responsibility.

In his first season, Irby guided the Warriors to a 9-7-3 record and a semifinal finish at the NAIA Region I tournament. His 2008 Corban team also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament.

Completing his 13th year coaching at the collegiate level, Irby’s record stands at 92-130-18. While at Corban, Irby coached 12 All-Cascade Collegiate Conference Team honorees.

A search will begin immediately to fill the head coaching vacancy, as interested parties are encouraged to contact Dave Johnson, Director of Athletics, via telephone at (503) 589-8119 or e-mail at DJohnson@corban.edu.
