BOX SCORE

OLYMPIA, Wash.
– Freshman Emily Tsugawa (Gladstone, Ore.) scored a game and career-high 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field that included a 3-for-7 performance from beyond the three-point arc, but it was not enough as Corban's women's basketball team fell to the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College, 72-63, Saturday evening inside the Greenhouse.

With tonight's result, Corban falls to 8-15 overall and 3-8 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Evergreen improves to 8-14 overall and 4-7 in league action.

Tsugawa was aided scoring-wise by sophomore Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Monique Tribble (Coquille, Ore.) added nine points, while freshman Tess Bennett (Sutherlin, Ore.) chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.

Evergreen would open the game scoring the first seven points before Corban used a 13-8 run to pull within two points (15-13) following a jumper by junior Ashlee Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.) with 7:22 remaining. Over the next six-plus minutes, Evergreen would use a 14-7 run en route to grabbing its largest lead of the first half (29-20) after a pair of free throws by Latrina Woods with 1:39 left. The visiting Warriors would cut the halftime deficit to five points (30-25) thanks to a Steigleman jumper for the final points of the opening twenty minutes.

In the second half, Corban would grab its first lead of the game (37-36) thanks to an opening 12-6 run that was capped by a Bennett lay-in with 15:24 on the clock. The visiting Warriors would continue to hold the lead until Woods converted a wide-open lay-up with 11:48 to go making the score 44-43 in favor of Evergreen. From that point on, the host Geoducks would never relinquish the lead as Evergreen secured an 11-point lead (68-57) thanks to a Tana Palmason lay-in with 1:44 remaining. A pair of deep three-pointers by Tsugawa would cut the Warriors' deficit to seven points (70-63) with 38 ticks hanging on the clock, but free throw shooting down the stretch would secure Evergreen's nine-point victory (72-63).

Evergreen was led in scoring by Palmason, who scored 18 points off the bench on 8-for-15 shooting from the field. Palmason was aided scoring-wise by Woods and Katie Garcin, as the duo registered 15 and 11 points respectively.
