SALEM, Ore. – Fourth-year head coach
Nate Mayben announced Sunday that this week's final home games against the NAIA's No. 1-ranked Lewis-Clark State have been altered due to potential weather that could effect field conditions at Warrior Field.
"Tomorrow looks like our best chance of playing two games since overnight Monday into Tuesday morning is calling for half an inch of rain," said Mayben. "Therefore, we are going to alter our schedule and attempt to recognize our seniors between games tomorrow."
Originally, this week's games were supposed to feature a single nine-inning game beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Monday and a double header starting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. With today's announcement, the revised game schedule is as follows...
*Monday, April 19th – Lewis-Clark State at Corban (DH), 12:00 p.m.
*Tuesday, April 20th – Lewis-Clark State at Corban, 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday's game will be played at Roy Helser Field on the campus of Linfield College, as Corban's coaching staff feels that the amount of rain that is expected to fall could make Warrior Field unplayable. Since Linfield has a all-weather turf infield and a natural grass outfield that drains well, Coach Mayben feels that the best chance of play would be to move the game north for safety reasons.
Prior to the start of Tuesday's game, the Warriors will look to recognize seniors
Mitch Riddle (Pullman, Wash.) and
Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.), who will be playing their final home game in a Corban uniform this week.
