BOX SCORES – GAME #1 | GAME #2

CALDWELL, Idaho
– In its final long road trip of the season, Corban's baseball team dropped a pair of NAIA West games against the NAIA's No. 22-ranked Coyotes of The College of Idaho, 18-1 & 12-1, Saturday at Wolfe Field.

With only four games remaining in the season, Corban is now 11-36 overall and 4-23 in NAIA West play. Meanwhile, The College of Idaho improves to 33-11 overall and 23-5 in league games.

Sophomore Jonathan Ramirez (New Britain, Conn.) would lead Corban's offense in Game #1 with a 3-for-4 performance, while freshman Kris Bos (Jerome, Idaho) was the lone Warrior to record more than one hit thanks to his 2-for-3 showing in the finale. Five Warrior pitchers would appear in Game #1, while junior Trevor Winsor (Troutdale, Ore.) and sophomore Tyler Doornink (Yakima, Wash.) combined to pitch the night cap.

GAME #1 – COLLEGE OF IDAHO 18, CORBAN 1

In the opener, Corban would take an early lead (1-0) in the top of the first inning on a RBI double down the left field line by sophomore Steven Blum (Salem, Ore.) that plated Bos after he was hit by a pitch.

Unfortunately, the Warriors' lead would not last long as The College of Idaho scored 18 unanswered runs over the next seven innings en route to securing its sixth straight win over Corban.

Besides Ramirez's three-hit performance, Blum and junior Kyle Taylor (Clackamas, Ore.) would be the only other Warriors to register hits. Meanwhile, a quintet of Corban pitchers that included freshman Craig Baker (Meridian, Idaho), sophomore Quinn Macnab (The Dalles, Ore.), junior Chris Trammell (Salem, Ore.), sophomore Mike McKay (Almira, Wash.), and freshman Caleb Virtue (Vancouver, Wash.) would combined to allow 18 runs (16 earned) on 23 hits.

The College of Idaho was led by Diego Robles' perfect 3-for-3 performance with three runs scored and three RBI, while Jacob Coats went the opening 6.0 innings allowing one earned run on four hits en route to picking up his fourth win of the season.

GAME #2 – COLLEGE OF IDAHO 12, CORBAN 1

Saturday's final game would see The College of Idaho score two runs in the bottom of the first on a pair of solo home runs by Izaac Garsez and Robles before Corban cut the host 'Yotes' lead in half (2-1) on a RBI single to left center by Bos that scored freshman Jake Balbas (Meridian, Idaho) from second.

Just like Game #1, The College of Idaho would run away from the visiting Warriors thanks to 11 unanswered runs over the next five innings for the final score of 12-1 in favor of the home team.

Bos would lead a quartet of Warriors that registered hits, as Balbas, junior Tyler Lake (Medford, Ore.), and freshman Alex Bost (San Jose, Calif.) each got hits in the finale. Winsor would take the ball for the opening 4.0 innings allowing eight earned runs on nine hits before turning the ball over to Doornink for the final two frames.

The College of Idaho was led offensively by Garsez's perfect 3-for-3 performance that included one run scored and two RBI, while Mitchell Dame and Chad Yeggy combined on a five-hitter for the Coyotes.

Corban will close out its 2010 season with a four-game series against conference rival Concordia beginning on Friday, April 30th, with an afternoon double header at George Fox University in Newberg starting at 1:00 p.m.
