Mark Colachico begins his fifth year as the Sports Information Director at Corban College.
This past summer, Mark was named Mike Booth SID of the Year as voted by his peers within the Cascade Collegiate Conference for his outstanding contributions to his program. Along with his individual award, Mark helped Corban's athletic web page to a fifth place award in the annual NAIA Sports Information Directors Association publication contest.
Mark came to Corban after serving three years as the Sports Information Director and Assistant Athletic Director at Hope International University (HIU) in Fullerton, California. Mark oversaw all areas of sports information for the nine intercollegiate sports that the university offered, including the return of media guides for all three sports seasons, the introduction of Live Stats for four sports, and live Internet radio broadcasts for select women’s softball games. Mark was the media relations contact for the 2002 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) men’s volleyball national tournament, the 2004 Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) men’s basketball post-season tournament, and the 2005 GSAC men’s and women’s basketball post-season tournaments. In addition to his SID duties, Mark was in charge of eligibility for all intercollegiate athletic teams, as well as securing game and practice fields for the men's and women's soccer programs.
Prior to his time at HIU, Mark spent six months as an intern in the media relations office of the Anaheim Angels Baseball Organization during its 2002 championship season. With the Angels, Mark worked one-on-one with both television and print media, as well as interacting with both players and managers on a daily basis handling statistical packets and game-day lineups.
Before working for a professional baseball organization, Mark spent eight years as a student worker within the sports information office at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. Mark began his tenure at Azusa Pacific as the women’s basketball public address announcer in 1995 then quickly moved up the ladder serving as the student assistant to the Sports Information Director from September of 2001 until January of 2002.
Along with his duties as full-time SID, Mark will begin his third season as the assistant men's and women's golf coach. Mark will assist with the day-to-day office work, while traveling with the teams when necessary.
Mark just completed a two-year stint as the Cascade Collegiate Conference's Sports Information Director chairperson. In the summer of 2007, Mark was voted by his peers to the position that works alongside the conference commissioner and information director in implementing changes conference-wide that will help the SIDs function on a day-to-day basis.
A 2002 graduate of Azusa Pacific University (APU), Mark earned his Bachelor of Science degree in organizational leadership. While students at the university, Mark and his wife, Jennifer, met through a common professor. The couple, who have been married for nine years, currently reside in West Salem with their two daughters, Brooke and Emma, and attend Morning Star Community Church.
